Guilty Plea in Hot Van Death
A central Texas man has pleaded guilty to two felonies in the death of his 18-month-old son left accidentally in the family minivan for more than six hours.
Thirty-four-year old Kesen Hu pleaded guilty Wednesday to criminally negligent homicide and endangering a child, each punishable by up to two years in a state jail. However, the Austin American-Statesman reports Williamson County District Attorney John Bradley has noted that both charges allow for probation.
Hu says he was supposed to take his boy to daycare last August, but was distracted by a cell phone call and instead drove to his workplace in northwestern Austin. His son was in the car with the windows up for six hours before Hu raced out to the car. He found his son dead.
Hu and his attorney have said it was a tragic mistake.
