The Special Session comes to a quick end. The Senate passes the last bill of the session that will be considered, meaning TXDOT can sell two billion dollars in road bonds, and have called it a session. The House adjourned soon after. Lt. Governor David Dewhurst says the whole thing went pretty smooth. "This is amazing. In and out in 18 hours." The only issue left on the table, public private toll road agreements. The House and Senate sent to the Governor two bills today. The first saves five state agencies from closing their doors starting in September. The second will let TXDOT sell two billion dollars in transportation bonds already approved by voters. That bill also stops TXDOT from using any of that money to convert existing roads into toll roads.
