For the first time the Texas Dental Association releases a report on the state’s oral health, and finds it’s not very good. The problem is especially bad for children says Dr. Karen Troendle. “We have 44 percent of our children between the ages of 6 and 8 that have dental decay that is untreated and in the United States the average is 25 percent.” So what do we do about that? Troendle says getting dentists into underserved areas is critical, educating people on the need for oral health and expanding access to oral health services for seniors will also help.
