A bill, going though the state legislature, would turn Texas into a little version of Las Vegas. When it comes to legal gambling, we have horse racing, dog racing and the lottery but State Representative Jose Menendez of San Antonio wants to sanction poker tournaments, too. Under his "poker gaming act of 2009," there would be requirements for licensing and security and he says these poker parlors would have to be tied into the State Comptrollers office for monitoring and so the state could get some of the revenues.
Ultimately, he'd like to see these poker parlors linked up and a statewide poker tournament.
