Attorney General: Do More to Stop Sexting

Attorney General Greg Abbott says parents and school need to both work to stop teens from sexting. Sending compromising pictures of yourself to your boyfriend or girlfriend via text message can get you in real trouble. “You need to be prepared for the reality that kids across your entire school will see that image.” Abbott says you could be expelled and he says that image could be considered child pornography. Megan Guilbeaux is a peer counselor at the National Teen Dating Abuse Hotline. She says handing out compromising pictures takes all of your control out of the relationship. “They might use it as a threat and say if you try to break up with me I’ll just show your parents the pictures.” Or worse she says those pictures could be sent around school to your friends or posted on the internet.
